My iris were so gorgeous this year. I wait all year for the 10 days of the iris show. I had many yellows this year thanks to my hairdresser John!
"Wildflower Memorial Garden" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Oil
Warren Angus Ferris Cemetery in Dallas is ancient with no headstones remaining. It has been turned into a wildflower garden, and I painted there plein air last week. It was beautiful even though the chiggers got me good!
"Goldfinch in Flight" by Ann McCann 6 X 9" Watercolor
Goldfinches represent summer and vacations in Cape Cod to me. This bird is viewed from underneath with the one, blurred wing in motion. The special effects in the background were created with salt crystals.
"On the Easel Poppies" by Ann McCann 12 X 12" Oil
These flowers are blooming in my neighborhood. And they really have a stone fence.
"Butterflies & Poppies" Watercolors by Ann McCann
There are so many butterflies right now. I have to paint them with my flowers.
Bluebonnets & Paintbrush Paintings by Ann McCann
It’s that time of year again, and I can’t get enough of the Texas wildflowers. They are gorgeous this year. When these two are together in the Texas fields, they are like firecrackers!
Here is a three flower version.
Here is the watercolor version. You can almost see the wind blowing, which it always is!
"Feels Like Bluebonnets by Ann McCann 5.5 X 7.5" Watercolor
I visited the bluebonnet fields twice last week and was inspired to paint them abstractly. I want the painting to “feel” like bluebonnets. Two birds of prey glide above the field.
"Garden Remnant" by Ann McCann Watercolor
It lay broken on the ground, but I couldn't throw it away. I popped it in a glass of water and painted it.
"Texas Spring" by Ann McCann 10 X 11" Watercolor
We are doing taxes instead of visiting the bluebonnet fields this weekend. So, I am visiting them in my imagination.
"Some Days You Just Need a Rose" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Watercolor
I needed a rose today so I painted one! I will have ones in my Dallas yard soon too.
"Turtle Creek Pears" by Ann McCann 18 X 24"
I paint these Bradford Pear trees every year. They are this perfect ivory color for only about a week, and then the green leaves appear. These are really old ones, with unique shapes. The flowers drift to the grass and onto the creek.

"The Idea of Trees" by Ann McCann 11 x 14 Watercolor
This is the result of a fun course with Pamela Harnois. We painted trees!
"Palestine Sunbird" by Ann McCann Watercolor
Imagine looking out your window and seeing this bird! That is what happened to my daughter in Jerusalem. See her photo below.
"Sunset Bay Birds" Work in Progress by Ann McCann 16 X 20" Oil
This is a work in progress. I spent several hours sketching at White Rock Lake where the birds hang out, Sunset Bay. The pelicans were out to lunch somewhere, but the ducks were looking for handouts (which are forbidden). You can see birds perched on wood outcroppings far out into the lake.
