Please come to my show “What I Did on My Summer Vacation.” The opening reception is on Friday, March 15 from 6:30 to 8:30.
"Pink & White Camellia" by Ann McCann 8 X 8"
I am continuing with my theme of Charleston camellias. This was a pink and white one that I shot. Note the perfect bud top left. I worked on that quite a bit!
"Pink Camellia" by Ann McCann 9 X 12 Oil
When I was in Charleston over the Christmas holiday, the camellias were starting to bloom. I shot as many as I could. Here is lovely pink one that was at the air b&b where we stayed.
I have enjoyed looking at this rose in my office every day, but now I am ready to let someone else enjoy it. I will have it for sale at my show in the Baylor Health Sciences Library in March. More will be coming soon about this art show
"White Rose" by Ann McCann 6 X 6" Oil
"Colorful Cones" by Ann McCann 20 X 20 Oil
I don’t think I have ever posted this painting. It’s one that I did over a long period of time. I kept heightening the color. These hardy prairie flowers flourish in my garden all summer and come back every year. They make me happy when I look at them. Enjoy.
"Portrait of Rona" by Ann McCann 8 x 10 Oil
Rona saw the colorful self portrait that I painted and wanted one for herself. So, here she is the portrait I painted for her. She asked me to exaggerate her mouth and emphasize the green in her eyes. Enjoy Rona!
"Low Country Reflections" by Ann McCann 16 X 20 Oil
I took the photo of this scene on top of a bridge with 6 inches between me and the trucks! And they were roaring by and beeping at me. But I wanted this view of the low country on plantation row outside of Charleston. I loved painting the reflections of the marsh reeds on the water so much that I want to do a close-up next. I also saw a triptych of a similar scene that I would like to try too.
Retired & Ready to Paint!
As of January 3, I am retired from my professor job. I am ready to paint full-time. Here are some images from our December trip to Charleston, a city of elegant townhouses, sweeping plantations and gardens. I want to paint it all!
"Not Your Average Bluebonnet" by Ann McCann 20 X 20" Oil
Like Texas bluebonnets, these are lupines. However, these Jerusalem lupines are 2 1/2 ft tall, a whole field of them! See the picture below of my daughter sitting in the field.
Give the Gift of "Flowers" for Christmas by Ann McCann
Here are some flower paintings that are still available for purchase. Contact me if you are interested. alouisemccann@gmail.com
"Poppy Field" by Ann McCann 20 X 20 Oil
This is a poppy field I visited last May outside of Jerusalem. It was stunning and felt wonderful to sit within it and surround yourself with the poppies. The field is on a steep hill and you can see other mountains in the distance. This is a painting to make you happy whenever you look at it.
“Oleander and Palms” (c)Ann McCann 18 X 24 Oil 2018
"Around the World" at the Dutch Art Gallery Through December 22, 2018
“Alhambra Garden” (c)Ann McCann 18 X 24 Oil 2018
These are the two paintings I have in this show. Please come and see them as well as four other paintings I have at the gallery.
"Red Inn Lilies" by Ann McCann 12 X 16 Oil
Of course, what I first saw was the orange lilies against the window and that is what I wanted to paint. But on closer examination, I saw the people in the bar/restaurant against the window in the back. So, they are here too.
"Harriet's Woods" by Ann McCann 16 X 20 Oil
I’ve spent a lot of time watching this forest. It is my mother-in-law’s backyard in Storrs, CT. The tree shadows vary throughout the day, and the tree colors change with the seasons. Harriet left this earth in October, and so this painting is dedicated to her.
