This weekend I am working on wet in wet with watercolors. The results are more unexpected but surprising in a good way. I love the drips!
"Violet Duo Corona Irises" by Ann McCann 8 X 10" Watercolor
My front yard is a mass of purple irises which might explain my fascination with them. Anyway, here is another one. I love the transparency of watercolors. You can see thru the flowers which is true of the real petals.
"Lavender Corona Iris Quad" by Ann McCann 11 X 14" Watercolor
In this pandemic, I feel the need to create immediate art. Thus, I keep making watercolors, particularly irises and poppies. Check out the new area of my store “Watercolors” where I have posted these paintings for sale.
""Poppies & Bluebonnets" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Watercolor
I based this watercolor on a wildflower garden that I see on my daily corona virus walks thru the neighborhood. I think this would make a great design for fabric or wallpaper!
"Blue Corona Iris" by Ann McCann 8 X 10" Watercolor
I am using this time in isolation to work with watercolors at least 1/2 of each day. I am usually still in my PJs when I start. Since the irises are so beautiful outside, I have been concentrating on them. Here is a blue/violet iris I saw on one of my daily walks.
"Purple Corona Iris" by Ann McCann 9 X 12" Watercolor
In these days of confinement due to the corona virus, I have decided to focus on my watercolor skills. There are beautiful irises everywhere so I have started with them. Here is the first iris painting..
"Bird Bath Garden" by Ann McCann 8 X 8" Oil
This is a lovely little garden near my house that I see on my solitary walks each day. The flowers are planted each year by grade school children. They are really lovely this spring, bluebonnets and poppies.
"Cherry Cherry" by Ann McCann 11 X 14 " Oil
A friend of mine sent me images from the Dallas Arboretum and this was one of them. I loved the abstractness of it as well as all the lovely pinks. I had to paint it!
"Big Bend at Sunset" by Ann McCann 12 X 16" Watercolor
This was the view from our B&B in Terlingua every morning and every night. It is burned into my brain.
"Spring Fever II" by Ann McCann 12 X 16" Oil
Here is the 2nd painting I’ve completed of my birthday visit to the Dallas Arboretum in February. Red tulips are the focus though the daffodils and pansies are important too. Look how the turquoise in the leaves pops against the red tulips.
"Spring Fever I" by Ann McCann 12 X 16" Oil
I made my annual birthday trip to the Dallas arboretum to see all the new spring flowers. Here is my first painting from this trip. I love the shadows of the daffodils on the brick pavers. The red tulips glow in the sunlight.
