Marsh at Blackfish Creek by Ann McCann 14 X 18 Oil

This is a beautiful  marsh that you can see from Highway 6 but there is no place to pull off the road.  You have to stand on a fence to photo it.  Despite that, I try to paint it every year.  It is an iconic scene for Wellfleet, MA.  I am still working on this......................

SOLD- "Plein Air Poppies" by Ann McCann 5 X 7 Oil

I painted this at the Wild Seed Gardens in Fredericksburg, TX in the Hill Country. They have gorgeous poppy fields in the spring. It was sold by the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. Thank you to whoever bought it!

SOLD- "Gothic Sky" by Ann McCann 9 X 12 Oil

I painted this one on the roof top of the Amadeus Hotel in the old Jewish Quarter in Seville, May 2016. Oh what fun that trip was.  This is the skyline view of a cathedral and other Gothic buildings nearby. I am so glad that a fellow traveler bought it!

SOLD "After Party Gerberas" by Ann McCann 8 X 8 Oil

At my house party after my opening last Friday, we had a bouquet of gerbera daisies. My friend Tom said he would like a painting of the orange daisy with a turquoise background. I said I would give it a try.  I painted it today, and it flowed like a easily.  That doesnt happen a lot for me.  I usually have to work much harder.  My friend was very pleased and bought it!

"Crape Sky" by Ann McCann 20 X 20 Oil

Here is another painting I did on my journey towards abstraction.  This is as comfortable as I can get with abstraction now.  I still like to recognize the objects. These are giant crape myrtle blossoms against the sky.  It was very fun to paint.  It felt good from beginning to end..

SOLD- Oleander Park by Ann McCann 9 X 12 Oil

This painting that I did of the city park in Seville sold at my show on Friday. The buyer like my composition, the flowering oleander in the foreground, then receding in the distance, the lamp post, palm tree and finally church spire. That is what I had in mind when I painted it!

Almost Done- "Path to Where?" by Ann McCann 22 X 28" Oil

I am just about done with this painting, maybe some minor changes yet.  I plan to submit this for a peer-reviewed fall show with the theme of "hidden" things.  My "hidden" would be the end of the path.

Sun & Shadow Iris by Ann McCann 16 X 20 Oil

These are my neighbor's iris that I see across the street, glowing in the morning and evening.  I was attracted to the play of the light and shadows on the plants. I did a small one first and then decided to do a large one for my October show at the Baylor Health Sciences Library.  The reception is on October 6 from 6:30 to 8:30.

"In the Pink" (Monet's Villa) by Ann McCann 20 X 20" Oil

It was a cool gray day in May (about 45 degrees) when we visited Monet's property in Giverny, France.  However, the irises, wisteria and many other flowers were blooming, including this pink tree. And yes, his house is pink too with turquoise green shutters.  It is a beautiful property that should be on your bucket list.

SOLD "Willow City Loop" by Ann McCann 20 X 20 Oil

This was purchased by a dear friend whose family has been in Texas since the Texas Revolution (and probably before).  So, It is fitting that she own this painting of a beautiful spot in the Texas Hill Country.
